The annual meeting aims to provide an opportunity to enlighten their members on how the cooperative society operates, how the previous year affected operations and financials, and elect new members to the management committee and supervisory committee. Having open annual meetings is one example of the democratic operating structure of cooperative societies. No matter how much money they have in accounts, every member has an equal vote in helping select members to the management committee and supervisory committee, who then guide the direction of the Sacco. While there are no contested races this year, attendees of the meeting will still have the opportunity to vote.
